The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh held a major retrospective of the work of Robert Colquhoun and Robert Macbryde.

The exhibition ran from 22 November 2014 to 24 May 2015. It presented the first opportunity to see a large quantity of their work.

Colquhoun had a major retrospective at the Whitechapel Gallery in London in 1958, but Macbryde’s work had never been seen in such quantity.

The show was brilliantly assembled by Patrick Elliott, Senior Curator at the SNGMA. He also prepared a comprehensive catalogue. I assisted with the catalogue, contributing to two of the four chapters.
